How I've been using blogs...

So far I've used blogs two ways in my classes. First of all, I experimented with student blogs as an extra credit assignment in my CISS243 class (Web/Database Integration). The students were to post twice a week - one post was to be their reflections on the week - what problems they faced, how they solved them, etc. The aim was to increase the students' metacognition. The second post, they had to identify and comment upon a resource relevant to what we were discussing in class. I maintained a blog to model what I expected. It turned out fairly well - were I to do this again, I would give more specific instructions about what I expected.

Here is one of my student's blogs. Here is my blog.

I have also started using blogs for my Work Based Learning students to document their goals and reflections on their work.
